Economic Development Corporation

The Bruceville-Eddy Economic Development Corporation (BEEDC) is a public-private partnership. It is a sales tax funded vehicle authorized by the voters of Bruceville-Eddy under the auspices of the Development Corporation Act of 1979 to engage in economic, as well as community development activities. Current BEEDC initiatives and priorities include:

  • Design and publishing of promotional material highlighting the unique advantages and opportunities available to developers and commercial interests in Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Supporting and guiding the development of a new comprehensive plan
  • Attracting and assisting new businesses to the area in order to create economic opportunity for the city and the residents of Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Assisting the City Council in establishing a Tax Incentive Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) along the east and west side of Interstate 35.
  • Assisting the City Council in establishing a community park and gathering area.

The BEEDC currently requests community suggestions and input for the following:

  1. Bruceville-Eddy strategic slogan. Citizens are urged to suggest slogans which the City Council will ultimately consider. A commonly accepted and finalized slogan will be important for promotional material and branding. “Onward and Upward”, “A Great Place to Grow”, “Halfway to Everywhere”, “Building on Solid Rock”, “Two Communities, One Brand”, and “The Scottish Capital of Texas” have already been suggested. If you have a great idea, please provide to the City Administrator NLT May 1, 2025.(informative reference link:https://www.facebook.com/reel/629807196163351?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v )
  2. Bruceville-Eddy highway monuments. Cities up and down I-35 have constructed promotional monuments on or about the edge of city limits that promote the community and announce the date of founding. Some include their municipal slogan. EDC members are working to obtain small slices of property for eventual construction, but ask the citizens to consider and propose ideas or designs for the project. If you have a great idea, please provide to the City Administrator NLT June 1, 2025.(informative example link:https://www.beltontexas.gov/news_detail_T11_R1187.php )
  3. BEEDC requests long-term volunteers with the right talent, experience and dedication to consider serving as Lead Event Coordinators for the following strategic initiatives:
    1. Establishing a monthly B-E Farmers Market/Trade Days event on Market Street to generate revenue and interest in our charming community
    2. Reestablishing to scale the previously yearly May Fest event
