Trash Rate Increase
At the last City Council meeting, a trash rate increase was approved in the amount of 12.52% across currently established fees. The rates are to take effect with the next billing cycle (mailings sent in September). For the majority of our customers, this will result in a $1.50 per residential cart increase (for a single residential cart) excluding taxes and fuel.
This increase was necessary due to rising industry costs for the disposal of solid waste and was based off a pre-approved agreement and schedule.
The city of BE is aware of the service issues surrounding our current waste vendor and we are in active talks with Waste Connection’s management team to get these resolved for good. If remedial solutions prove ineffective, the City of Bruceville-Eddy will begin the process of exploring other waste management providers by issuing a request for proposals.
